Directions by road
Directions are given in 2 parts:
- first, how to get from the major roads to the Treacle Mine Roundabout in north Grays
- second, how to get from the Treacle Mine Roundabout to our buildings
Part 1 – from the Thurrock boundary to the Treacle Mine Roundabout, Grays
If you are coming from the south – Kent – on the M25:
- from the Dartford Tunnel crossing of the River Thames, continue north on the M25 until junction 31 – the first exit
- at the M25 junction 31 roundabout, take the fifth exit onto the A1306, signposted towards S. Ockendon and W. Thurrock
- stay on the A1306 eastwards for 2.2 miles as far the large roundabout signposted as 'Treacle Mine Roundabout'
If you are coming from the north – Greater London and the north – on the M25:
- as you approach M25 junctions 30/31, get into the left-side lane signposted towards A13 (E), Tilbury, Thurrock and Lakeside
- exit onto the A13 eastbound and stay on it until the turn-off for Grays A1012 (A1306)
- go round the roundabout and exit on the A1012 for Grays, Chafford Hundred, Lakeside Shopping Centre, South Ockendon
- get into the right-side lane for A1012 Grays Town Centre as you approach the Treacle Mine Roundabout
If you are coming from the west – London – on the A13:
- continue over the M25 and remain on the A13 until the turn-off for Grays A1012 (A1306)
- go round the roundabout and exit on the A1012 for Grays, Chafford Hundred, Lakeside Shopping Centre, South Ockendon
- get into the right-side lane for A1012 Grays Town Centre as you approach the Treacle Mine Roundabout
If you are coming from the east – south Essex – on the A13:
- from the 'Five Bells' roundabout at the east of Thurrock, take the A13 westbound in the direction of the M25 and London
- stay on the A13 westbound for 7.7 miles until the turn-off for Grays A1012 (A1306)
- at the roundabout, take the second exit on the A1012 for Grays, Chafford Hundred, Lakeside Shopping Centre, South Ockendon
- get into the right-side lane for A1012 Grays Town Centre as you approach the Treacle Mine Roundabout
If you are coming from the north – north Essex – on the A128:
- continue south on the A128 Tilbury Road as far as the Orsett Cock roundabout above the A13
- from the roundabout, join the A13 westbound in the direction of the M25 and London
- stay on the A13 westbound for 2.5 miles until the turn-off for Grays A1012 (A1306)
- at the roundabout, take the second exit on the A1012 for Grays, Chafford Hundred, Lakeside Shopping Centre, South Ockendon
- get into the right-side lane for A1012 Grays Town Centre as you approach the Treacle Mine Roundabout
Part 2 – from the Treacle Mine Roundabout to our buildings
From the Treacle Mine Roundabout:
- take the southbound exit past the Treacle Mine pub onto the A1012 towards the Town Centre, S. Stifford and Chafford Hundred
- continue south towards Grays town centre on A1012 Elizabeth Road, across a roundabout (second exit) onto A1012 Hogg Lane
- continue over the next roundabout (second exit) onto A126 Hogg Lane, leading left onto A126 London Road
- in the town centre, A126 London Road continues as A126 Orsett Road with the brown-brick Thameside Complex on the left
- for the Civic Offices, take the next right turn into Stanley Road
If you need to use a public car park:
- continue through the traffic lights to the roundabout at end of Stanley Road
- at the roundabout, you can exit immediately into the Crown Road pay and display car park
- for more parking spaces in the multi-storey car park, take the roundabout's second exit and follow road markings to 'Car Park', avoiding bus lanes and the far right lane that leads to service areas
If you have pre-arranged parking at the Civic Offices or are just dropping-off:
- from the traffic lights on Stanley Road, take a right turn into Clarence Road
- at the end of Clarence Road, turn left onto Derby Road
- over Derby Road bridge, take the first right turn into New Road
- there is a lay-by for deliveries and dropping-off visitors in front of the red-brick Civic Offices on your right
- you can use the small roundabout at the end of New Road to turn around and return the way you came
The Civic Offices underground car park is only available for use by security pass holders.
