Screening services
Screening is a way of checking people who may seem healthy.
It is used to:
- find those who are at a higher risk of a disease
- spot problems at an early stage so treatment can be offered
Screening can be given to the whole population or limited to a particular group of people, such as those with diabetes.
Go to the NHS screening website for full information.
Screening usually takes place in hospitals and community health centres. The NHS National Child Measurement Programme is carried out in schools.
Find out about screening for high blood pressure (hypertension) and atrial fibrillation.
Go to GOV.UK: infectious diseases for information on how specific infectious diseases are managed.
