Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund is money provided by the UK government's Department for Works and Pensions to help low-income households, including families, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers and disabled people, who are struggling with the cost of energy, food and hygiene products.
The amount of Household Support Fund provided to Thurrock in 2024/25 is £2,590,082
This will be used to provide help for households in financial hardship through the Essential Living Fund, with a particular focus on those who may not be eligible for the other support.
For the period October 2024 to March 2025 a particular focus is on support to Pensioners who may no longer be eligible for winter fuel payments.
Households that receive certain benefits or are living on a low income can apply to the Essential Living Fund for money to help with food, clothes, utility bills, furniture and other items essential for living.
